Y4 visit to Milestones Museum
Year 4 went back in time as they wandered the streets of war time Britain to learn more about Home Front Life from 1939 to 1945 at Milestones Museum. Character actors and an audioguide brought to life this period in history. The class enjoyed dressing up plus the hands-on activity boxes. And we all enjoyed a sing-song round the piano too!

Following on from the success of our City Athletics Team - Bitterne Manor was extremely proud to have one of its pupils representing Southampton at the County championship. He then also went on to win the 150 metre sprint. Team Southampton came 7th overall out of teams from all over the county! Brilliant!

SGO Roadshow visits BMPS
First, the sports students at City College organised a range of multiskills activities which was enjoyed by each of the classes across the school.
Then it was the turn of the dancemats on their following visit. Pupils worked in pairs, and these photos show just how much concentration was needed to co-ordinate your feet, in the right place, in time to the music - phew!

City Athletics - BMPS brave the rain!
Despite the very wet and cold weather, the Athletics Team pulled out all the stops and gave of their best at the sport centre, competing against other local schools in the City Athletics competition. There were a mix of nine 1st, 2nd and 3rd finishes - well done to everyone, including the group of parents who came to cheer us on!

Year 4 visit the Art Gallery
Our Art topic this term is portraits, so Year 4 decided to go and view a selection of original paintings and sculptures at the Art Gallery in Southampton. In addition to studying and making observational drawings of artwork in both traditional and modern styles, the class enjoyed a workshop session. They learnt how to draw a face with features correctly proportioned. Then using just one length of wire, they bent the wire following the outline of their drawings to create a 3D wire sculpture. Facial features were added with pipe cleaners, beads and ribbon. The finished sculptures look amazing!
