-Labelling a big skeleton
-Exploring real animal and human xrays
-Learning new body facts
-Skeleton hands- the children drew all 27 hand bones on a glove!

Thank you Sue for coming in and sharing your expertise.

A challenging day for Year 2

What a busy day in Year 2 today! This morning some children got to make pancakes for Bob's breakfast, by weighing out the correct amount of ingredients. It was a real challenge to read the scales accurately, but we will persevere! Have a go at home this week if you get a chance.   Then this afternoon in science,  we got the chance to have a look at some of Mrs Stubley's knitting and watch her in action!!  We even tried a bit of paper weaving, to help us understand how some materiels are made.

Year 5 rocket into space

Year 5 headed to the Winchester Science Centre today and had an AMAZING day! We had a rocket workshop where we powered rockets with air and water; experienced a trip through our solar system in the planetarium; and experimented with the exhibits. The children loved the experience and did Bitterne Manor proud. Hopefully the photos below give a taster of how much fun we had.

Being Challenged!

It looks like the whole school is taking on the Challenge theme for the Spring term!
Please ask the children if they've been working on their challenges.

Time travelling in year 2!

As part of our "Time Travelling" topic in Year 2, today in English we imagined that we were  Bob from our "Man on the moon" story. We pretended to give a guided tour of the moon to tourists and imagined craters in the playground (the keyhole), Bob's rocket (the climbing frame) and walking on stilts (the woodchip play area)! Our role play was very imaginative! Then, this afternoon we travelled back in time as we looked at photographs of our past and made a time-line of key events, all the way back to 1969 when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. Thank you to everyone who brought in photographs to share.

Sharing the Challenge!

No Golden Book assembly today  - that starts again next week! Instead each class shared their ideas with the rest of the school about being a good learner and the learning challenges they have been talking about in school this week. Children should know about all about the challenges they have been setting themselves this week in school.

Egyptian Masks- Stage 1

Year 3 have started thinking about their Art topic for this term- Egyptian Death Masks. We looked at a variety of examples and sketched our own. Watch this space for the next stages! We think these are FANTASTIC!
