Today we decided that our Broadbeans were ready to plant outside. Some of them are already 20cm tall! But before we could plant them outside we needed to write in our Bean diary. We looked closely to describe what our beans looked like and then drew a picture.

Garden Project
This week some of the children in Robins class have been lucky enough to start improving the patio areas outside the classrooms. We have been doing this along a fully funded project called The Solent Way. The Solent Way decided they would like to offer a school near the coast some funding towards a project in their school grounds. Mrs Rice contacted them and said we were interested, they visited, liked us and bingo!! Please check out the work they having been doing. Its going to look great!

Owls Swimming...!
Well done to Owls who've completed their swimming course today. They seem to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and made some superb progress. Today was a fun session which they clearly made the most of!
A Talented Year 6!
We would like to say what a brilliant effort the children in year 6 have made in preparing themselves for their SATs next week. They have all had such a positive attitude and given of their very best learning to get themselves ready. We cannot ask much more of them than that they try their hardest and do their best! We should all be very proud of them.
In Golden Book last week we began to share this superb poem by one of our many talented pupils in year 6. So here is a copy in her own hand for you all to enjoy: 'Bravery' by Zoe. We don't think this has anything to do with her thoughts about SATs week...?

Zany Zebra Workshop
Year 6 took a welcome break from SAT's revision this afternoon to take part in a Zebra Workshop held by Marwell Zoo. We had great fun identifying Zebras from their stripe patterns, handling the skulls of predators and using our detective skills to work out who the predators were. We measured footprints, listened to the sounds the animals make and even studied their poo! Most importantly we all learnt a lot about the importance of conservation and how Marwell is helping to protect the Grevy Zebra population.
Our Library revamp continues...
The librarians have been hard at work getting our library revamp completed and open for the children... won't be long now! Here are some pictures of the new library which looks amazing and is going to encourage everyone in the school to get reading.

Team Zebra's work is done...!
We are proud to unveil our contribution to the Marwell Zany Zebra project. Our Team Zebra have been working hard over the last few weeks and months to complete our art work before it's collection and display in Southampton. The theme behind our Zebra has been very much about learning at Bitterne Manor and the design features our 'Head, Heart and Hands' logo and the school colours. The children have suggested various names for the Zebra - Lulu, Deborah, Zebra McZebraface... and we will decide shortly. The Zebra has however been very much Bitterne Manor'd!
