English and Spanish!

We thought we'd share some of the work with our Spanish visitors from this week. The Spanish students gave us a great insight into life in Spain and Spanish schools with some presentations they gave - all in English! We also wrote and illustrated some traditional stories in parallel in both English and Spanish and our visitors will take a copy back to Spain with them.

Our Visitors from Spain...

We have had a fantastic week with our visiting students from Spain. The 8 pupils from Teruel have been marvellous ambassadors for their school and country. They have been working mainly with Kestrels all week and our children have really enjoyed learning about their life in Spain as much as they have been keen to share it! We would also like to say well done to Kestrels for the warm welcome they've shown to the students and for the all the families in our community who have hosted the students. We've had a real sense of community, shared values and togetherness that crosses national borders!

Directions

Today Robins found something odd in the classroom. It was a treasure map left by the naughty Pirate Pete. We used our knowlegde of directions to follow the the map and found some gems.  Miss Cole said she was going to use them to buy herself a new car but we all decided that we need to find the rightful owner which turned out to be Mrs Ditchfield. When we got back into class we found lots of blank treasure maps and some instructions. We were told to make our own treasure maps and write our own set of directions. We used words like left, right, forwards, up, down, quarter turn, half turn and three quarters turn. Great work Robins.

The Pig part 2

Well it was another amazing morning at The Pig today.  The children learnt so much about the restaurant and garden.  They have sniffed leaves and been amazed by the various smells and tastes that can be produced by plants and fruits.  We met the pigs and saw inside the smokehouse and were allowed to try home made biscuits and applemint slush.  The children enjoyed that sooo much they have decided to make and sell it at the summer fayre to let you all taste it too!

Thank you to Mr Finn and Mrs Chance for driving us.  I think they have both picked their lunch for their next visit!

Year 3 visits the Pig

What an amazing trip!  During our visit to The Pig, we have learnt about all the fruits and vegetables they grow and how they are used on their menus.  We had the chance to see the pigs, chickens and quails and we were able to sample some homemade biscuits and apple and mint slush.  We have all enjoyed ourselves and can't wait until our Mums and Dads take us there for dinner!!

Home learning in year 5

Thank you to the family and friends who helped year 5 with their amazing home learning projects this term! They are fantastic! What a creative bunch of children you have! Our task was to create a forest in box!  So many lovely ideas including using hamma beads, tissue paper, recycled materials, polystyrene , natural materials from the garden and much more! They look amazing on our class display,  so thank you very much!  Here are just a few examples.
