Fairytale Day

Last week, to hook us into our 'Happily Ever After' topic, Year 1 spent the day exploring different aspects of Fairy Tales. In the morning, we split into 4 different groups and took part in activities, such as:
Reading and acting out the Gingerbread Man:

Creating a fairy tale castle from 2D shapes:

Decorating and describing our own Gingerbread Man:

as well as making our own hats and shields!

In the afternoon, we were sent a letter from Cinderella inviting us to her ball. We had to make our passports before we boarded the plane.

When we arrived at the ball,we were paired up into boys and girls and taught how to waltz!

At the end of the ball, Cinderella thanked us for coming, we boarded the plane and came back to school!

We had a fantastic day- thank you to all the children for being wonderful and parents  for providing such brilliant costumes!

YEAR 5 READY TO WRITE!

Year 5 have had their imaginations ignited this morning as they took part in a "Live lesson" of BBC Radio 2's 500 words competition launch.  We tuned in on-line to join in the live lesson, which was hosted by Naga Munchetty and Barney Harwood.  We now have a range of great ideas for the plot, characters and setting of our stories and are excited to become authors.  The children have until Thursday 26th February to submit their entries.  Good luck and remember - have fun!!

Sainsbury's Active Kids voucher scheme is back! Look out for vouchers and start collecting from the 25th January.

An Outstanding Christmas!

PTA Christmas Raffle

The Christmas raffle was another huge success this year with even more tickets sold than last year!  The hampers were spectacular so there will be some very happy winners at the end of the day when they collect their goodies!  A massive thank you once again to the PTA, who have worked hard to make up the hampers and sell the tickets.

Bon Voyage Miss Cole

As the whole school were together this morning, it was the perfect opportunity to wish Miss Cole well on her travels, before she leaves us tomorrow.  Miss Cole is looking forward to her amazing trip to New Zealand but will be greatly missed by all the staff and children at Bitterne Manor.  Good luck Miss Cole!
