The Golden Lock...

This half term a 'Golden Lock' has been revealed to the children at Bitterne Manor Primary School! To help encourage children to bike or scoot to school they will be given a chance to win a special prize! Mrs Rice will place a 'Golden Lock' on a bike or scooter and that child will win something just for coming to school on it! How cool is that? Ruby was the lucky winner when it started last week.  Well done! I wonder who will win next...? Good luck!

Roald Dahl Day!

Wow! What an amazing event 'Roald Dahl Day' was last week!  The whole school was busy creating props for our fabulous JRock team! As you know the theme this year is linked to 'Roald Dahl' so each class were given a creative task to complete from some of his famous books.  From dream jars, clay mini-beasts to a yummy chocolate cake Bitterne Manor pupils were hard at work! The JRock Team then collected up the coins from each learning leader to create the chocolate river outside the KS1 area.  Congratulations to Finches who won the competition!  They were presented with a special Roald Dahl book as a prize! A HUGE thanks goes out to Lia and Hannah for helping to organise this fun afternoon!  Take a look at some of the pictures captured below...

This afternoon for the Roald Dahl rock challenge event year 4 had to create sharks. We were given large boxes and left to it. We have now got 4 very convincing looking sharks. What an amazing job year 4 you should be very proud of how they look.

Bench Marked For Success!

We're very proud to have just received a special bench completely recycled from plastic bottles. A group of our pupils took part in a competition to promote and encourage everyone to do more recycling. Their efforts have been rewarded with this fantastic bench which will now find a home in our school grounds. Well done!

Crime Scene Investigation!!

On Monday morning, Year 1 came into school and there had been a crime committed!!

We were sent a letter by PC Bob, asking for a class who knew a lot about Fairy tales to help him investigate.

We went outside to investigate - what had happened? Who could have been involved? Watch this space for our newspaper reports to find out!!

Special performance!

Year 5 put on a very special performance today to their friends and family.  In teams of 6, they wrote the script for one scene of the Anglo Saxon legend 'Beowulf'.  They prepared the props and costumes for their scene and performed it beautifully! They really thought about the tone and expression of their voices, and after watching the film back, they decided that they need to work on the volume of their voices to make sure that all of the audience can hear.  Well done Owls!

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 7th February with the slogan ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’. The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet. In school, we talk to your children about keeping themselves safe online as an important part of our curriculum. The day on 7th February hopes to encourage more and more of us to think about and promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
