Well done to all the children for getting so involved, and in some cases taking risks and challenging themselves 😊

Rooks Gym Week
As well as Science Week, Rooks have also been working hard on their gym! We have been working in partners to create symmetrical balances on the floor, large apparatus and wall bars. We also created routines which we performed to each other!
Well done to all the children for getting so involved, and in some cases taking risks and challenging themselves 😊

Swifts get MESSY!
Yesterday, Swifts had the chance to create a 'Gloop Mess!' They worked as a team to create their desired mess. All that was needed was: PVA glue, non-bio liquid, food colouring and glitter!

Super Science in Year 5!
Owls class have had a great start to Science Week! Our topic is bread, so we have tasted lots of different breads and evaluated their smell, taste and texture.
We have found out about the science of yeast and how it works and used a bottle and balloon to show how it gives off Carbon Dioxide.
We have also been shown how to make a basic bread recipe and designed our very own bread recipes for our Great Bitterne Bake off tomorrow!

Good luck to all the groups and don't forget to bring in your "extra" ingredients.
Rooks Science week so far!
This week in Science week, Rooks have been looking at electricity.
We started by investigating a human circuit- why do we conduct electricity?!

We then investigated making circuits and which were materials were conductors and insulators. Miss Blightman also let us have some investigation time - some groups even managed to use a motor to make the propeller spin!
Watch this space later in the term as we will be using this knowledge to make our Iron Man's eyes light up!
Swift's Super Science continues...
We certainly like getting messy in the Swift class!
Yesterday's super science involved creating an 'Ocean in a bottle!' Sounds cool I know! This included: a bottle, water, coloured dye, cooking oil and a really good shake! This gave children the opportunity to use their measuring skills when pouring out the ingredients carefully into the bottle. As our topic is linked to Titanic, we thought it would be an ideal experiment to carry out :) One table even went further and added some glitter...we LOVE things that glimmer and of course SPARKLE!
Stay tuned to see what super science we get up to today...

Professor Mini Mugridge!
To celebrate Science Week, last week's homework allowed children to research fun and quirky experiments! Professor mini Mugridge in the Swift Class took part in a special video showing a quirky experiment involving just corn flower and water! He shared this fun experience with the class, causing all sorts of excitement. It felt very...GOOEY!
SWIFT'S SUPER SCIENCE!
Swift's have started Science week with a...BANG! Throughout the week we will be carrying out mini investigations/experiments linked to measures! This is great as it gives us a chance to apply our fab maths skills.
Yesterday, we started with our very first investigation... Performing a test to see what would change colour first, a white flower or a celery stick! There were a mix of predictions within the class, some thinking it would be the white flower because the water would suck up all the coloured water quickly. Others thinking it would be the celery stick because it would absorb the water more making it turn a different colour first. We performed the test, fairly of course and are now awaiting the results...what do you think will happen?
