Heads Up Project!

We are very fortunate to have the Heads Up Project coming to our school over the next few weeks.  The Heads Up is a project  is being run in local schools, colleges and universities in Southampton and The New Forest. They work to inform and educate young people about their well-being and mental health. Aiming to equip them with coping strategies so that they can manage their own well-being.  Further information is available at:  http://www.solentmind.org.uk/content/schools-colleges-and-universities

In years R and 1, they will deliver a 20 minute relaxation workshop.  Year 2 to 4, will have a slightly longer session on self esteem and self confidence.  Pupils in Year 5 and 6 will have 3 sessions, which aims to inform them about mental health and coping strategies.

This also links in with our Anti-bullying week (13th - 16th November) which is using the theme 'Power for Good'.

A fabulous week at Osmington Bay!

Those in Kestrel class that visited PGL, Osmington Bay last week, had a fantastic time trying out lots of new activities. We were so proud of the way they approached the challenges presented to them and supported one another throughout their stay.  With a positive attitude, many overcame any initial fears that they may have had and gained new skills and a new level of confidence - it was brilliant to see!   Below are just a small selection of the many photos that were taken throughout the week, which we hope you will enjoy taking a look at.  We hope to bring more to you as soon as possible!  As you can tell from the smiles in the photos, the children (and staff) all had an amazing five days! Well done guys!

A Spider's Web...

I thought that I would have to share this picture taken during one morning duty. As we all make the seasonal adjustment, it's really great to see cour children taking such an interest in the wonderful world around them!

SWIFT'S POPCORN PARTY!

Super Swifts were such busy little bees all of last half term and settled back brilliantly so I thought that they DEFINITELY deserved a treat! Each half term they have a chance as a class to earn a reward due to them being the BEST they can be through earning fuzzy balls.  When the class bucket is full, they get their treat! Their first  treat was a...popcorn party with a movie! I've never seen them so quiet :) Well done my Swifties.  Roll on the next treat...

"We learn something new every day..."

I should have realised by now never to question the ambition of our children to learn new things and, in this case, the ambition of Golden Eagles to achieve the impossible! We were sharing some of Year 2's work on birds of prey and I genuinely thought this picture in one child's work was the Eagle hitching a ride... how wrong was I! As it was pointed out to me: "We never stop learning - we learn something new every day!" That made me feel quite proud!

What fantastic weather they're all having this week on the 'Costa del PGL'! The picture below is a mystery - I think I can work out who two of them are behind the fencing masks...?
