Understanding Behaviour Workshop for Parents
Amy Reid (Family Engagement Worker) is offering another opportunity for parents to attend the Understanding Behaviour Workshop. We hosted one of these workshops last year and the parents who attended found it very useful. If you are interested in attending this time, please come and speak to me and I can complete the referral form. The workshops will be held at: Sure Start Centre, Weston Foxcott Close, SO19 9JQ. On the the 26th Jan, 2nd Feb and 9th Feb at 12.45-2.45pm. Refreshments and a Crèche will be available.
The aim of these three short workshops is to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment for parents to discuss and explore their children’s behaviour. When it comes to developing an understanding of why our children behave the way they do it can be CONFUSING.
This workshop helps to empower parents to understand behaviours and feel motivated to respond in a more positive way.

Egyptians Day
This morning we created our own headdresses we also got to grips with using hieroglyphics to write out our own names.
Roman Day
Today Year 4 took part in a Roman Day. Thank you to all the adults at home for your help with costumes, they all looked amazing! They spent the morning learning about Roman artwork completing Roman mosaics. As well as this they created swords and shields which were later used in their marches and Roman formations in the afternoon. They even had a chance to try on a replica of a Roman soldiers suit of armour. They ended the day by invading the Egyptians and having a celebratory banquet to celebrate together. They all had a very enjoyable day which formed an excellent start to our topic work.
Saxon Topic!
Owls have had a fantastic day; starting on their journey to discover all about super Saxons! Our day began with exploring a timeline of the Saxon history in England. In pairs, the class pieced together a timeline and a selection of facts in a tricky but fun activity! Next, we delved into the history of King Arthur (who we will be reading about in English this term) playing Chinese whispers to show how legends develop and change after time. Finally, we began investigating and practicing with Saxon art.We created the Saxon knot pattern in different ways - using string, paints, pencils and even jewelry! We can't wait to carry on learning all about the super Saxons!
Fairy Tale Day
Thank you to all the parents of Robins class, the costumes were amazing today.
We spent the day this morning decorating a gingerbread man (and trying our hardest not to eat all of the toppings), ordering the story The Gingerbread Man, decorating shields and using 2d shapes to create castles.
This afternoon we learnt how to waltz using the 1, 2, 3 count. We had some absolute pros at this. Check out the video as well.
We then ended our day with a banquet. The children thoroughly enjoyed this, we even invited Mr Adams and Mrs Egerton to join the fun.
We as adults and the children have enjoyed our day and learnt lots about fairy tales as well as different ways to work together. The pictures reflect just how much the children enjoyed today.

Fairy tale
Today is not only the day for us to dress up as our favourite fairy tale character a mystery door also arrived in the classroom. The children are very intrigued as to who put in there, maybe we will find out later today or in our topic.

Going for goals.
First of all happy new year to you all. Today we have been busy learning all about what a good learner looks like, how we learn aswell as understanding what a goal is. We then ended the day by writing a biography about ourselves and setting ourselves a goal that we would like to achieve, either personally or academically. Well done robins you have worked really well.
