Swallows explore the SUPER Sea City Museum!

Last Friday Swallows went on an adventure! We had the fantastic opportunity of going to visit the Sea City Museum to learn all about the Titanic! It was a totally TERRIFIC day! Swallows did the school proud.. showing how much they have learnt throughout our topic 'Ahoy There!' We had the opportunity explore the museum, learning new facts and stories before taking part in a workshop jam-packed full of activities that helped the children engage in the history of the Titanic! The children had a fantastic time and arrived back at the school with huge smiles! THANK YOU so much to the incredible parent helpers! We couldn't have done it without you! Take a peak below and the pictures!

Super Swifts LOVE SeaCity!

On Friday 16th March, Swifts and Swallows visited the SeaCity Museum in Southampton which linked to our topic, 'Ahoy there...Titanic!' Saying it was great would be an understatement, it was truly SPECTACULAR! Both classes did the school proud and the organisers were utterly impressed. Through carrying out a wonderful workshop, terrific tour and exploring all the amazing facts, Swifts had an amazing time. So much so that we have even written letters to the organisers informing them of what we enjoyed and what we have learnt (which is LOTS!) Thank you so much to our super parent helpers, we hope you had a fabulous time too, we could not have done it without you :)

Take a sneaky peek of some of the highlights from the trip.  Warning... major fun had throughout!

EPIC End to SWIFT'S SUPER Science week!

Super Swifts had an epic end to Science week! We finished with the best experiment yet...which liquids would EXPLODE when popping in a packet of mentos! Children predicted which liquid they thought would react the most, least and created questions that they wanted to answer. It was FANTASTIC! Poor Mrs Carey though, she got soaked!

The Cola reacted the best and made a MASSIVE fountain, exploding everywhere! It was...SCIENCE-TASTIC! I wonder what we could change for next year to make it even bigger...

Let It Snow!

Today we did allow the children a little fun in the snow - no throwing anything of course! Some quite creative activity on the 'snowthing' front... and some huge snowballs which will take a while to defrost. We can well and truly say we have had our fix of snow for the year...!

HMS Victory

Nightingale's braced the weather and adventured to visit the HMS Victory. We had a fantastic time; we had the opportunity to dress up like a pirate, try different knots, look at the variety of food shipmen would eat and look at some interesting artefacts. Nightingale's then explored the ins and outs of the HMS victory, the children had a brilliant day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Open as normal...

Thanks for your patience this morning with what was a very icy start to the day. We have opened and business is as usual despite the conditions.
We will be able to provide a meal this lunchtime despite the reduced lunch staff. As our meals are prepared elsewhere this is always a situation beyond our control. We have to be prepared for every eventuality.
Nightingales will also be on their way to Portsmouth Dockyard shortly as planned.
Obviously, conditions in and around school remain icy and children will be kept inside for the most part until they improve.
We will let you know if there are any updates or changes throughout the day.
On a personal note, our staff have done their very best to get the school up and running this morning and I would like to thank them for their efforts in making that happen.
