SUPER Swifts LOVE Marwell!

The SUPER Swift class had a very fun day at Marwell Zoo today. I've never seen them so excited!  We have been learning all about Africa and different animals in Science this half term so this was the perfect opportunity to help children to apply everything that they knew and ask the questions that they wanted answering.  The 'All about Animals' workshop helped children to do this in particular!  Here, the class learnt about the different animals situated in Africa and their special features.  They asked lots of questions and learnt lots.  I think the best part was when a REAL SNAKE was shown to the children giving them a chance to see one up close! It was amazing to watch as each and everyone of them were in awe.  Exploring the Zoo was just as fun as we managed to dart from one animal to another.  The Giraffes in particular were a huge favourite as were the Penguins.  All in all, it's been a very exciting day and hopefully one that children won't forget for a while.  I think it's safe to say that they will definitely be sleeping well tonight...

SUPER SCOOTER SHOW!

Not long ago, Bitterne Manor took part in the Big Pedal which saw us beat ALL the other schools in Southampton.  As a prize for coming 1st, we won a very special scooter show led by Terry Price! The children thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a well deserved treat. Fingers crossed that we SMASH it next year and win something even better...

Scooting treat for Kestrels

Well done Kestrels!  As attendance winners we were lucky to have a workshop with Terry Price - a professional and World Champion scooter rider.  We learned some important control skills and also had fun perfecting our bunny hops!

Summer Fayre 2019

Thanks to everyone for making our Summer Fayre such a super event. Once again, I am amazed by  our children and how our community have all come together to support the school. We'll be working out the totals this week and let you know how much we managed to raise. I would like to thank our marvellous PTA and all those who contributed to the event for their excellent efforts. Thank You!

SUPER Swifts visit the Gurdwara!

Earlier this week the SUPER Swift class visited the Gurdwara! We have been learning about 'Sikhism' and wanted to find out more information.  We were lucky enough to have a tour of the Gurdwara and a volunteer gave us a special talk about the Sikh religion. It was fascinating!  Did you know that Miss Sangha is a Sikh? She has been sharing her religion with us too.  The best bit at the Gurdwara was getting to try the food.  It was delicious!

Take a sneak peek of our visit...

Summer Fayre Ahead...

Excitement is building towards our Summer Fayre this Friday and today we heard all about the children's plans to raise money in assembly. On the list we have scones and donuts; treasure hunts and orienteering; photo booths and tin can alleys to name just a few. Don't be alarmed by the picture below - no bears were actually harmed - but that is 'Bear Ballista'! We have a competition to launch the soft toy of your choice at various targets for no apparent reason other than raising money for the school and the fun of doing so! Bring your own bear or use one of ours! We are also getting excited by the Rodeo - expect the queue for that to be long. There will be an inflatable Cow race, too, though before you get any ideas that is only for younger children.
