Year 4 get musical!
Jays and Rooks have had a busy afternoon getting musical and creating sound effects to go alongside our English book - A River Story.
We used a variation of instruments to create the sounds of a river as it runs through rapids, waterfalls and a busy city!
We plan to create our own soundtracks to the book to express the journey a river must take...

A huge warm welcome to our new Kingfishers
A HUGE warm welcome to our new Kingfishers.
Wow! We cannot believe how quickly you have settled into school. You are all looking so smart and have a fantastic attitude towards your learning. Well done Kingfishers, we are so proud of you.
It has been a busy week, learning routines, trying school lunches, touring the school, learning what we do if we hear the fire alarm, as well as having fun and making new friends!

Owls in Space.
Yesterday Year 5 explored Winchester Science Centre. We explored space and even got to make our own rockets! We all loved the planetarium, where it felt as though we could touch the stars. #SPACE #Rockets #Stars #Planets

Kestrels smash their first week!
Well done Kestrels for a fantastic first week in Year 6! They have all worked really hard and shown a super attitude towards their learning. They have become immersed in our topic 'Natural disasters' and have:
- looked at countries affected by flooding; organised data and drawn bar graphs.
- watched the different stages of a volcanic eruption and thought about how these stages can be described using powerful vocabulary choices.
- produced a super piece of written work to describe the stages of a volcanic eruption.
- learnt about the layers of the earth.
- thought about different shelters; designed their own dream den and built prototype shelters.
A superb start to the year!

Welcome to SENSATIONAL Skylarks!
What a fantastic start to the new year! Skylarks showed such fantastic enthusiasm to starting Year 3! After exploring our new classroom we talked about what is special and unique about each one of us and what our special talents are. It was a fantastic activity which allowed us to share our talents and what we are proud of. In the afternoon we put our creative skills to the test by designing our very own dragon to tie in with our first topic. Their creativity blew me away with some incredibly detailed and eye catching drawings!

SUPER Swifts soar on their first day!
The SUPER Swift class have had a wonderful first day back. Children began their day by getting to grips with their new classroom. They then completed a 'compliment' card for a peer in their class showing how sweet they can be! Thinking about the term ahead I asked children to think about a wish, which in turn would enable them to develop over the half term. They were lovely! The new Swifties have slipped into the Year 2 expectations amazingly and completed tasks to the best of their ability. We can't wait to see them grow over this exciting year.
Go Swifts!
