Our Amazing Cats!

We were treated to a purrfect performance of 'CATS' this week. Our amazingly talented pupils created their own version of the musical to entertain us during their after school dance club. Well done and a 5/5 start review to them! Thanks to Hannah & Lia for their dedication and support for the performing arts at BMPS!

Jays explore the Roman ruins of Fishbourne Palace!

Jays had a fantastic and fun-filled trip to Fishbourne Roman palace this week! We were able to see lots of Roman mosaics, walk around the beautiful Roman gardens and even try our hand at Roman school!

The Roman workshop meant that Jays were taken right back into the Roman times and were given the opportunity to dress as Roman slaves, create mosaics, trying our hands in the kitchen, building bridges and even writing on a board made of bees wax!

However, it all got a little too much for many of our Roman soldiers on the way home! :)

Swifts send food to the MOON!

Super Swifts are currently learning all about Space.  In particular we are looking at Bob, the Man on the MOON! Part of our Science topic is looking at the suitability of materials.  We have worked hard at identifying properties of certain materials and the suitability of them. So when Bob sent a letter asking for help on which foods would last the journey to the Moon we happily obliged. We investigated lots of packaging and thought about which ones would be the most suitable packages! It was a very exciting lesson...

A massive thank you to our PTA

Kingfishers cannot thank our PTA enough for funding our wonderful mud kitchen.

There has been so much excitement. The children have been taking orders in our mud cafe and then following recipes in the kitchen.  There has been lots of mathematical language, sharing, taking turns and creativity.  It really has been an amazing addition to our outside area.

Thank you!

We are celebrating in Kingfishers

In Kingfishers are enjoying our topic 'Time To Celebrate'.

Last week we were thinking about birthdays and why they are important and how different people celebrate them.  Kingfishers finished their week by having a birthday party for our class bear (Ted).  They wrote lists of party food and filled party bags in the role play.  We thought about the information we need in an invitation, and then helped Ted to write his, inviting our own toys to his party.  During the party the children used their number and problem solving skills to work out how many hats, cups and plates were needed at the different tables.

This week we are celebrating Chinese New Year.  After watching video clips of dragon dances, Kingfishers made up their own, thinking about the movements they had observed.  They have also been busy using shapes to print patterned dragons, using their cutting skills to make lanterns, and cooking and trying new foods

We can't wait to find out about weddings and christening next week!

Welcome Box Event

A huge thank you for the donations of deodorant that you kindly gave for the welcome boxes.  It was a great event, with all the schools coming together to fill around 80 boxes of goodies for refugee families arriving in our city.  All the Learning Leaders did a brilliant job of promoting the event and decorating the boxes.
