Last night, 50 children from Years 2-5 performed at Southampton Guildhall in the annual SSMS Christmas concert.
Children in Year 2 showcased 'Lights, Camel, Action! - Strictly the Nativity!' with several children undertaking the parts of sheep, shepherds, stars and innkeepers in dances - well done Rose, Faye, Theo, Leo, Lola, Isaac, Hannah and Oliver for learning these so well!
Children in Years 3-5 performed 'Are we nearly there yet?', which was also narrated by Henry, Izzy, Maria, Kim, Jacob and Annie.
All the children were absolutely fantastic and worked so hard to learn their words and actions to the songs - you did the school proud!!
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting this event, and of course to all the members of staff who gave up their time to help with both the rehearsals and the performances.

Mayan Masks
This week in year 4, we have been designing and creating our very own Mayan masks. We learnt about why the masks were used and then created them in our topic and art lessons. They all looked very unique, but each encompassed some of the traditional Mayan designs.

Children in Need
This was the perfect culmination to our Anti-bullying Week.
The children spent the morning doing some role plays with each other, trying to emulate the difficulties that some children with disabilities may face when they want to play with other. They found it particularly tricky trying to play with each other and not being able to talk as a form of communication, but, as always, they managed to find a solution to this and devised their own ways of getting each other's attention.
In the afternoon, we focuses on developing our Fine Motor Skills further, by making our own set of Pudsey ears. they wrapped and wound with wool and the glued the ears on at the end. And don't they look wonderful?!
In a week where we have been acknowledging and celebrating our difference, I have, once more, seen the class develop further as a team, with their friendships growing stronger every day!

Christmas hampers
The PTA have done a fantastic job again this year of creating the Christmas hampers, which will be raffled off on Thursday 21st December 2017. Tickets will go on sale from today - so don't miss out! The cost of each ticket is just £1 and there are 38 hampers to be won, 5 of which are luxury hampers, containing all kinds of goodies. Each family in school will be given 5 tickets today to try and sell but if you require more, please ask in reception.
Good luck!
Thanks To Your Generosity...!
Thanks to your generosity, we have now received our school AED (automated external defibrillator). We need to do some training before it can be safely deployed and, of course, we hope that the day doesn't come when it is needed. If that time should come, we'll be in a good position to help save someone. We'll update on our training shortly. In the meantime, thanks to all of you who supported this project!
