Lead Learners visit the Mayor
Our Lead Learners had a fantastic afternoon visiting the Council Chambers to meet with the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Barnes-Andrews. They had the opportunity to try on some robes, see the Mayor's rooms and learn more about the his role and responsibilities. They were fantastic ambassador's for our school, asking really interesting questions and demonstrating their impeccable manners. Well done!
Kestrels are 'Learning to be the best we can!'
Wow what a super start to Year 6 Kestrels have made! In maths we have been thinking about reading and ordering large numbers. In English we have been thinking about the quality of our descriptive writing and in DT we have been problem solving and building prototype shelters. All of our work this week has been linked to our first topic, 'natural disasters'. We have also had a focus on the learning value, Pride, which I hope is evident through the very high standard of work produced! And all in the space of 4 days! Fantastic effort Kestrels - keep it up!

Welcome to Kestrels!
Year 6 had a great first day! They have reflected on their rights and responsibilities as pupils at Bitterne Manor and have set themselves targets for the year ahead. They have also produced some amazing artwork based on pieces by the Japanese artist Hokusai linked to our Natural Disasters topic.
