Today's the day the Teddy bears have their picnic...

Robin class had a fun day with their teddy bears. They made movable teddy bears and iced cakes this morning. This afternoon they shared books with their teddy bears and they enjoyed a teddy bears picnic. Robin class also had a great time popping bubbles from the bubble machine to end the day. A super treat for all their hard work this year in Robin class.

Kestrels' very own theme parks...

Kestrels have had a great morning designing and making their own theme parks ahead of their trip to Paultons tomorrow!  I think their own parks look like great places to visit and we seem to have some budding designers and engineers amongst us!

A mission from the Octonauts

Our Kingfishers had a very special delivery this morning- a letter from the Octonauts!

The Octonauts asked us if we could help make people more aware of the dangers of water pollution as it is harming our sea creatures.

Kingfisher class were more than ready to take on the mission.  They found out about the different kinds of pollution in the sea (e.g. plastic, from factories, oil spillages, from natural disasters etc), and how these affect sea creatures.

We talked about how we could help.  Some children started to make posters to share, stating how we should put litter in bins.  The class also talked about how there are organised 'Beach Cleans' where people can get involved and help.

Super work Kingfishers.

SUPER Swifts LOVE Marwell!

The SUPER Swift class had a very fun day at Marwell Zoo today. I've never seen them so excited!  We have been learning all about Africa and different animals in Science this half term so this was the perfect opportunity to help children to apply everything that they knew and ask the questions that they wanted answering.  The 'All about Animals' workshop helped children to do this in particular!  Here, the class learnt about the different animals situated in Africa and their special features.  They asked lots of questions and learnt lots.  I think the best part was when a REAL SNAKE was shown to the children giving them a chance to see one up close! It was amazing to watch as each and everyone of them were in awe.  Exploring the Zoo was just as fun as we managed to dart from one animal to another.  The Giraffes in particular were a huge favourite as were the Penguins.  All in all, it's been a very exciting day and hopefully one that children won't forget for a while.  I think it's safe to say that they will definitely be sleeping well tonight...

SUPER SCOOTER SHOW!

Not long ago, Bitterne Manor took part in the Big Pedal which saw us beat ALL the other schools in Southampton.  As a prize for coming 1st, we won a very special scooter show led by Terry Price! The children thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a well deserved treat. Fingers crossed that we SMASH it next year and win something even better...
