Gym lessons at Bitterne Manor
















Year 3 and 4 children have been enjoying gymnastics lessons. They are learning headstands, shoulder stands, vaulting, beam and floor work. Some have been leading and volunteering as coaches.

Election Results 2010

The results of our school council election have now been announced. We are pleased to welcome the following new councillors into their new role and wish them well in their new role of helping to improve the school over the next year.

Spartacus Sandals!





Year 4 have been coming to the rescue after recieving a letter from Spartacus asking them to design him a new Roman sandal!
Spartacus needed the best possible sole for his sandal which would give him the best grip - to escape from the lion he was fighting!
Year 4 worked in teams to create and carry out a science experiment to decide which material would be the best for him. Their next job will be to make a mini version of the sandal!

Archaeology Museum

In class this week, Year 3 are starting to put together an archaeology museum. Many of the children have already been bringing in a variety of rocks, minerals and even fossils to show the class. Well done everyone!

If anyone is willing to loan their collections to our museum for a few weeks, please bring in your treasures in a named bag or box. I look forward to seeing our collection grow!

Football Tournament

Our boys football team were out this afternoon competing against 25 other schools in a Southampton tournament at Wide Lane, Eastleigh. Though we didn't win any trophies the boys played superbly well as a team and were unlucky not to progress to the next round. Here is the team:

Harvest Collection

This year we are supporting the Salvation Army's H2O project in Southampton. We would like children to bring in contributions of:


  • baked beans

  • tinned tomatoes

  • tea bags

  • coffee

  • sugar

  • tinned corned beef or tuna

  • fresh fruit

  • pickle

  • mayonnaise

Election 2010

Today saw the whole school turn out to vote for this years School Councillors. Here are some pictures of the day. The results of the secret ballot will be announced in Friday's assembly and the new councillors will be welcomed into their new role.
