Jack Frost!

Year R's new topic 'Jack Frost' is well under way!

The children have discussed what they already know about Jack Frost and the seasons Autumn and Winter, and have thought about what else they would like to find out.

The class have made pictures that made them think of frost and thought of words they could use to describe their pictures.

They have also produced repeating patterns using natural resources, such as fir cones, leaves, twigs and shells.

We have been making firework pictures. The class watched a clip of some
fireworks and thought about the colours and shapes they saw. They used their ideas to help them make their fantastic pictures. The children thought about how to keep safe on firework night, understanding that it is fun to see fireworks but we need to be sensible. Pupils have also been learning about why we celebrate 5th November.

Year 6 reporting from Osmington Bay!

The week is nearly over.
Yesterday we did abseiling, mountain biking, archery and fencing. We loved it but it was such a busy and tiring day!
Tonight we are looking forward to the DISCO!
See you all tomorrow,
From Year 6

Year 6 get gardening!

The year 6 children who have been in school this week have been busy gardening. Their challenge was to re-design the year 5 and 6 gardens, working with a given budget, and in a mini team of 7! They were their own bosses and each had jobs amongst the team.

The team visited Haskins Garden Centre and chose their own new plants. The finished garden is fantastic.
Why not come and have a look?

News from Year 6 on the Osmington Bay Residential

After an exciting coach journey to Weymouth, the children have settled quickly into their new home for the week. Teachers report that despite the wave of excitedness the children were all settled by 10.30pm!
This morning they woke up bright and early for a full breakfast and eventful day which will include quad biking and rifle shooting. Apparently Miss Vaughan screamed the most on the Giant Swing activity!
More news will follow as we receive it......
