Shelfies for World Book Day!

World Book Day is Coming!
We are celebrating World Book Day this week. We'll be enjoying sharing our favourite books and 'Shelfies'! Encourage the children to think about their favourite story - can they create and bring in a 'story bag' about it?
As part of our celebration for World Book Day we would to invite your child to bring in a small ‘container’, with items relating to their favourite story. The items can be toys, puppets, or anything which can be used to re-tell the story. The container can be a bag, shoebox or box but should have your child’s name displayed on the outside. The container should also include a copy of the book either from home or school.

Northam Bridge Update
We have received the following update from the local authority regarding the works on Northam Bridge:
Northam Bridge work – New road surface being laid next week
The waterproofing layer on Northam Bridge (inbound lanes) has been applied; you might have noticed the bridge changing colour this week, we had some twitter comments that we had our own yellow brick road.
From Monday a new road surface will be applied. This is only one of a handful of locations in the UK to have this very dense, strong and waterproof guss-asphalt surface, which is laid at 400°C, twice that of normal asphalt. The specialist machinery will run on rails and can apply a layer of the surface in a matter of hours.
By the end of next week line markings will be painted and over night on Sunday, 8 March traffic will be switched onto the new road surface.
More information and answers to frequently asked questions is available online. If you have any questions please email wilson.massie@bblivingplaces.com.

Our Upgraded Tyre Park
It's time for Year 6 to test out the new all weather surface on our tyre park. This will mean it can be used all year round which is brilliant!

Exploring the snow in Year R!
Year R very much enjoyed getting out and playing with the snow earlier this term! We explored what the snow felt like and what was happening to it throughout the day. We made snow angels and our very own Olaf! :)
Travelling with Barnaby Bear!
We have had a very busy half-term 'travelling' to different countries and learning about them. We spent time exploring what each is like and comparing them to where we live.
We enjoyed finding out more about Poland. A big thank you to our Polish Assistant who answered many questions!

We ended our topic by 'flying' to China and having a Chinese New Year party to celebrate the year of the Goat. The children were fantastic in helping to create vegetable noodles to eat! We also used our cutting and creative skills to make lanterns and moving dragons and we used our imagination to set up a Chinese restaurant role-play and then we created a real one in class! We enjoyed eating our noodles and listening to Chinese music. We found the chop sticks tricky to use!
