Year 3 English WOW Day!

In English over the past week, Year 3 have been looking at the story of Moses, (linked to Ancient Egypt). This week we are going to retell the story in our own words, and to help us with this we have been creating a 3D story mountain!

We separated the story into 10 different parts and worked in groups of 3 to create a diorama in a box.

We are then planning to retell the story using microphones, and then eventually get together with Year 4 and tell the story really well, before writing our own version.

Year R enjoy 'travelling' to find out about other countries!

We have been very busy finding out more about the world around us! This week, we were very sad to say goodbye to Mrs Crease but before she left we helped her prepare by finding out all about Portugal!

We made passports and 'flew' to Portugal to find out what it is like there and we shared this information with Mrs Crease who is going to send us a post card with an update soon!

"Beowulf-the play" - a sell-out!

Bravo! Bravo! What a show! Well done Year 5 on an amazing performance this afternoon. We have such a talented bunch of writers and actors. Thank you to all the friends and family for being a great (and patient!) audience, and for all your hard work with the props and costumes.

'Quiz Night' on 11th February

We are very pleased to announce details of Quiz Night - an exciting upcoming event in support of J-ROCK at Bitterne Manor. Hopefully, lots of you will be able to put a team together and support the J-ROCK team. We look forward to seeing you there! Entry forms are available in the school office.

Production preparations,!

Year 5 had a very busy morning writing their scripts for "Beowulf - the play", in preparation to perform it to our friends and family next week.  The children worked in groups of 5 to turn a chapter of the the story into one scene, which they will perform.  They will also need to consider the costumes and props for their scene.  It has been wonderful to see them working as a team and to hear them use the language of saxon warriors!
