Rooks News - Special Report

This term, Rooks topic has been 'In the News'.  We have looked at the different ways news is spread around the world, we have written Newspaper articles and created our own news reporting channel, with anchors and roving, on-the-scene reporters.

As a class, we have been reading 'I was a Rat!' by Philip Pullman and have taken it upon ourselves to report on the 'Monster in the sewer' tribunal .  We have reported on events and interviewed the relevant witnesses.  Over the past couple of week, we have planned, written a script, practiced and today, after all our hardwork, we filmed!

The classroom has been a hive of activity.  It has been, 'Lights, camera, action,' as Mr Austin returned wearing his new hat as a 'film producer'.

Here are some of the photos of our day.

Year R to Hawthorns

Super healthy super hero cereal bars!

Today Year 5 followed the recipes they wrote in English to make their very own Superhero cereal bar. We then had a tasting session this afternoon to review each recipe and give the groups some feedback.   There were some delicious creations - my personal favourite had fresh coconut in it!! Yum yum!  Well done to everyone and a huge thanks to the parent helpers, we couldn't have done it without you.

Zoo lab

This morning year r had an exciting visit from zoolab.  We had the opportunity to look at and learn about lots of different minibeasts.  We held a giant land snail and a millipede. We looked at a spider and even touched a snake. It was great fun even Miss Head held the snake, Mrs Carter didn't! How brave were we? We even got to stroke a bunny.
