Children's Mental Health Week 5th -11th February 2024. Todays theme- Positive self talk

Todays theme is ‘positive self-self talk’.

Self talk is how we talk to and about ourselves. This might be out load to ourselves or others, it can also be the way we think about ourselves.

For children and young people who experience lots of self-talk that is negative their confidence and self esteem is likely to be impacted.

Encouraging positive self-talk can help improve self esteem and confidence.

In the mental health support teams in both Southampton and Portsmouth Young people have and continue to be essential in shaping our service, the offer, and the way in which we offer services for children’s mental health in our cities. Participation has a mutual benefit, with young people reporting a sense of empowerment and autonomy in helping shape services.

If you know a young person who might be interested in joining our participation group please do not hesitate to speak to your MHST school link who can provide more local information.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this email.
