Kestrel's have had a great time this week celebrating World Book Day. We all thoroughly enjoyed planning, designing and making our scenes from 'James and the Giant Peach' by Roald Dahl. Can you spot how we incorporated a potato into each scene?!!

Robins book days !
We've had a busy few days in Robins. We've created our own story model of the Gingerbread Man, read outside in unusual places and have been on a treasure hunt. We've also said a big goodbye to Mrs Vaux and wished her good luck on having her baby.

Rooks have arrived...
all safe and sound! When I went for a visit this afternoon, the sun was shining(!) and the children were having an excellent time! They were either building a tower of crates or zipping down the zip wire! Everyone was getting involved and there was no fear in sight! The only bad news is...the washing which will be coming home! Mud, mud and more mud, everywhere!!!
Bitterne and world book day
The last two days have been really exciting in year r. They have been learning all about 2 amazing stories. Puffins have learnt all about The Stickman and Kingfishers have studied The Gruffalo. We rehearsed the stories, acted out and created actions for them. We even worked as teams to create a scene from the story that other classes had to guess. It was so much fun, we want to do it again.
Nightingales' book revealed...!
Library Plans Unveiled...!
We are very excited to finally unveil the plans for our new school library. The current area will be receiving a complete redesign in the next term and we're so looking forward to seeing it completed. The pictures of the plans are below and the work will start over the Easter break. Thanks to the fund raising efforts of our PTA for making this a possibility!
Bitterne Manor Book Day - Rooks
Rooks embraced Bitterne Manor Book day. Thank you to everyone who was able to come for Book Look and the workshops after school.
Today Rooks adopted the book - The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka. This tells the well known story of the three little pigs from the persepective of Alexander T. Wolf, who feels he has been severely slandered by the news papers!
Over the past couple of days, Rooks class have adopted an IMAGINE and CREATE challenge from the World Book Day "Big Book Off". They have spent time looking at the arguments 'for and against' Mr Wolf's guilt about the death of the first and second little pigs. They created court scenes and acted out the trial.
Having spent time understanding the story the children then entered the CREATE challenge and designed settings and characters mentioned or present within the story. This was done using potatoes!!!!
Potato characters soon appeared in the classroom. A wolf, 3 pigs, a newspaper journalist, policeman and granny (whose birthday cake started it all!) A fantastic job by Rooks!
