KS1 children love DRAMA!
Today was a very special day for the younger children who were visited by a drama expert. Sam, aka a special superhero, delivered a fun workshop to Kingfishers, Robins and Swifts. She had the children hooked with her special music device and props. Their mission was to help planet Earth through drama activities and taught children about the importance of recycling! Your child has gone home with an information leaflet about the organisation and what they do. Feel free to explore further by contacting the organisation directly :)

Robins Drama Workshop
Today Robins were very lucky and took part in a fantastic drama workshop.
Our workshop was based on Superheroes teaching the children about the importance of recycling.
All the children absolutely loved the session and got very involved with all the fun activities.

Marvellous Maths in the sun for Nightingales!
Nightingales thought they would make the most out of the beautiful weather today by taking their maths lesson outside!
We used our teamwork and communication to create a magic v! We loved being able to physically and practically apply our new skills!

Cars, ramps and measuring!
Kingfishers had great fun applying their measuring and number knowledge during MOOT today.
Outside there were some cars and ramps. There was also some multi link, a chalked number line and a large ruler. The children used these items to measure how far their car went along the ground after it had gone down the ramp. We changed the heights (and so the steepness) of the ramps to see if the cars would go further and faster.
We also discussed how the ramps were made from different materials and how this may affect the car's speed.

Sharing our work
Kingfishers had a great time sharing their work with Year 5 this morning.
Some of the children in Reception could talk about what they had done in great detail. Year 5 also showed us their I.C.T. skills, where we needed to follow a Power Point story, making decisions about what would happen next as we read.
The children really appreciated each other's efforts. What fantastic work.

EXTREME READING COMPETITION!
It's back..!
World book day is just around the corner and as always Bitterne Manor will be celebrating our love for books in style! A letter went out before the half term break notifying children that they can dress in pyjamas on the day itself (Thursday 7th March) and will take part in lots of exciting activities.
Teachers will be sending out a special homework task linked to 'World book day' the first week back so keep a look out! The 'Extreme reading' template will be handed out with the homework task so start thinking about wacky places that you can get caught reading. If you have already found a place throughout the holidays that you would like to get caught reading, take a picture and attach it to the template when given out. I'll look forward to seeing the most unusual places this year...
